V BOARD ALL THE WAY! THIS ONE HAS A POP UP WINDOW WHEN YOU TRY TO SCROLL. I GUESS SO YOU CAN'T CUT AND PASTE. IT MAKES MOVING AROUND SLOW.

11-24-2004, 02:05 AM
He might of said it twice Ben but he cant vote it twice LoL

TEXASLEADHEAD THERE IS NO POP UPS EXCEPT WHEN U RIGHT CLICK TO COPY AND PASTE

And I dont know how that would slow things down...JUST DONT RIGHT CLICK

If you r trying to copy and paste what someone said just use the quote above.

TEXASLEADHEAD

WHEN I CLICK THE SCROLL BUTTON ON MY MOUSE A POP UP COMES UP.
THIS IS NOT FOR COPY AND PASTE. IT IS FOR SCROLLING.

I THEN CAN MOVE MY MOUSE AND IT WILL SCROLL DOWN THE SCREEN. OR LEFT AND RIGHT. I AM USING A MICROSOFT OPTICAL USB 2.0 MOUSE. NOW I HAVE TO USE THE SCROLL BARS ON THE RIGHT OR BOTTOM OF SCREEN AND GO BACK AND FORTH EVEN WITH A MAXED OUT SCREEN.

^ when you click the ball on the middle (your mouse doesn't have it) it's so you can scroll faster down the screen. It does that to mine too. And I must say, it does slow me down 2...

TexasLeadHead, I understand you don't like this (i'm not a big fan of it myself) but this was a request for the forum. It does not come with the forum and can be taken off at any point in time, given that everyone comes to an agreement to do so.

I knew it was u that got my mouse LOL it slows u down because u feel u cant look at things as fast?

Josh
11-24-2004, 12:41 PM
^I bought my own mouse at radioshack for like 5-10 bucks lol. But yea, it's a big slow down..

I can get used to this one if I need to but I liked the idea of the scrolling index in the V-Board of the most active posts. I don't have lots of play time and that kept me up to date quickly on what's happening around here. I never used the chat and rarely used the message box at top.
I choose the V-Board only for that reason.
thanks for the hard work.

Withholding my vote simply because I've been soo busy with hunting season, and the Holiday season, that I didn't get a chance to check out the V board for comparison. Also, to top it off, my Internet connection has been intermittent.

The recent posts can easily be moved to the index as well if desired. I'm working on a chat (although u rarely used it :p) and we already have a shoutbox on the portal.

Another thing, I was annoyed by the "no right clicks" myself. So I found another little piece of code to block from people copying the stuff, but allowing us to freely scroll down the page again. Now understand, this is not a "solution" to the problem, there are still ways around this. I ask you to understand this in the case that someone DOES get around it.

SCROLLING WORKS NOW. THANKS FOR FINDING A WORK AROUND. COPY AND PASTE DOES NOT WORK. SO THIS MEETS OTHERS REQUIREMENTS. THANKS AGAIN.

I FOUND AWAY AROUND THE COPY AND PASTE. IF I CAN FIND A HACK ON MY FIRST TRY OTHERS WILL TO. SEE TEXT BELOW. JUST A SMALL SAMPLE. HINT HTML CODE.

Thanks for enabling right-click. I prefer to navigate by right-click, then "open in new window". Saves a whole lot of steps using the browser "back" button.

I don't have a 21" monitor on this po-boy computer. Is there anyway to change the screen width so the text will "fit to screen"?

I have to keep scolling left and right just to read each line.

Just thought I'd ask.

Nine Lives Change your screen area setting on your computer to 1024 by768. I have a 19" and it put it all on the screen with out having to scroll with a 21" you may not have to go that small.

I WORK ON A LAPTOP AND NOTHING WORKS. THE SITE CAN BE SETUP TO VIEW WITH OUT MAXING OUT THE SCREEN. CASE IN POINT ALL THE SITES ON THE NET.

JOSH
CAN YOU HELP US OUT HERE?

dwaynez

The scrolling option is great, the board just takes a little getting use to.
Anyone who is dead set on getting info off a board will do that, but most of the time people will read the post and share their thoughts.

Josh

ok, i took the banner out because i thought that was the problem with stretching the page.. now i'm not sure what it is but i'll figure it out..

I'm new to the site so I don't know the difference. So far I'm impressed with the layout. I like the colors, all of the STUFF to play with and most of all the ease of getting around. I still gotta do some learn'n though. :?

New board looks great... excellent job Josh.

One question... :?:

What's up with that banner ad at the top of the forum? It pops up some chick in a bikini and some other one with some partially exposed woman. It's not a porn site though... I think it's just a singles site. The reason I brought it up is because I let my six year old son surf the board. He gets a kick out of seing the pictures of everybodies catches and boats. His favorite is still the 62 pound blue from the Conroe bunch. Last night my wife passed by his room and saw him on the board, and noticed some chick in a bikini, so she stopped to see what site he was on, only to find out it was fishingtx.com.

Doesn't make the site look too family oriented if you know what I mean. Just my .02 cents.

Everything else looks awesome!!!!

Algonzo

good catch, if something appears to be inappropriate the first step is to let someone know, I am sure they will look into it and address it if can be changes. Sometimes there are requirements with hosting services that make it a requirement to advertise.

ALGONZO I have noticed it also and requested the banner swap to be placed as a kid site ..it can take a couple of days before it goes thru so I will go and stop the banner until then..
Thanks for noticing
Cheryl

is it just me but why do i have to sign in twice to get to see the latest post once on the right then i go to form then sign at top then back to forum and i see lastest post and by whom am i doing somethig wrong or is it made that way?

TEXASLEADHEAD
12-11-2004, 04:09 AM
I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS A PAIN TO DIG AROUND AND FIND NEW POSTS. THE TRICK I FOUND THAT WORKS MOST OF THE TIME IS TO CLICK ON LATEST POST BEFORE THE SCREEN LOADS ALL THE WAY.

Why's the Shoutbox so small?
Can I re-configure my browser so that it will be larger?

Thanx

The shoutbox is a little small, makes it difficult to read larger posts without having to scroll back and forth.

WILL CHECK IT OUT WITH JOSH

dwaynez
01-05-2005, 08:43 AM
The easiest way to see all the new posts is to check on New Posts and refresh it ever so often, it will display the latest posts.

algonzo
01-05-2005, 09:31 AM
The one thing that sucks about the new posts is that if you login, click on new posts, and then close out of the website. When you come back and click on new posts, it says 0. Many times I've had to click on Search and type in "*" into the search string and click on search, which will pull up every post in Descending order, which displays all of the recent topics. It would be nice to have a Recent Topics page on the top of the page, similar to the New Posts one, and allows the user to specify how many to display per window (Set default to 25 or something), regardless if it is new since your last visit or not. Just my 2 cents.

dwaynez
01-05-2005, 09:44 AM
I have had to do the same thing Algonzo, but I am able to stay online while at work and check very often so it doesnt affect me as much, but the idea of a recall page for the 25 most recent posts is a great idea it would make it very easy to find the new posts if you had to close out and wee seeing ( 0 ) for new posts.
