Has any one been fishing for flounder? I have not heard much on if they are running.
:thinking:Could it be cause the limit was so low that most didn't bother to fish for them:thinking:?

Just wondering :icon_question:

They will be running with this front! Generally they move during cold fronts and will sit in the flats adjacent to the channels during warn periods! Seawolf is a greeat place to fish for them. Fish along the concrete by the submarine

However you must be realistic. During the run, everyone that owned a rod and a hook was bringing home limits

And I have never knocked anyone for catch and eat! I trust TPWD to impliment policy to ensure our fisherys! Personel choice that has more to do with being lazy and just loving to catch fish! Lol

If you really want to catch some flounder this time of the year, buy a Louisiana license and fish the cuts and bayous on the east side of Sabine Lake. If you launch on the Louisiana side, you are fishing under Louisiana limits. About the only public launch is on Johnson Bayou which is also one of the better places for flounder fishing around the mouth of the bayou. You may be too late, but that is where I would start. Use a 1/4 to 3/8 jig with a shrimp tail. Tip the jig with a piece of peeled shrimp tail. Pitch into the cuts and work the jig with 6 inch twitches back to the boat. Use a stiff spinning rig and set the devil out of the hook. A flounder's mouth is tougher than a board. Take a net. If you get around to going, let me know and I will give you some locations to try.

MetalCutterr should be able to fill you in on Louisiana limits.

the flounder have been running since early nov.the limit for nov. was two fish per person .limit is 5 fish per day for the other 11 months.swp is a good place to catch them.if you have waders use them the park is crowded and full of yahoos.wade the channel side ,start at the rocks and get to shuffling down the shoreline use tandemrig 1/8 oz jighead w/plastic red /wht tail ,gulps shad good alsoabout a ft below that flounder hook w/finger mullet, mud minnow, or shrimp.bump along the bottom slooooow.we have been limiting out since late oct.fish lately have been good size 16" to 22" on our strigers. dress for the weather and good luck its almost over.and keep in mind 1 flounder comes w/4 fillets.:dinnertime:

LOL. Scott That eagle is fishing :dinnertime: to live. Not like a bass fisher that lives to fish.

I did a flounder run in the Freeport/Surfside area on Nov 20-21... this was my first time ever fishing for flounder and had a blast! A buddy and I hit the ICW in Surfside on the 20th and was hitting the flounder and sand trout (those are amazingly delicious!!). Then on the 21st we hit Galveston and headed out of the Yacht Basin and was nailing the flounder within 30 minutes!!

We were using #6 hooks and tipped them with either mullet or mud dog minnows.

You can read up on this trip and check out the photos on my blog at:

Now for the month of November the limit was backed down to 2 per day per person. However, all other months it is 5 per day.
