I'm currently shopping for a Fish Finder I looked at the 7" Screen...Garmin... Lowrance...Hummingbird
I'm leaning towards the Garmin I really like the clarity in the down scanning..and the side imaging... tell me why I should go with something different...I'm opened to suggestions

Nice, Gil. I'm somewhat in the market as well. Please let us know how it performs.
If ya don't mind what did it set you back?

A friend of mine here on Cedar Creek went from a HB 899 to some kind of the latest&greatest Garmin w/chirp and he said it was the right choice. He looked at my 1199 and laughed.

I think I am in the market for a different fish finder also. I have a three year old Lowrance Elite-7 chirp. Last year it would turn on with no data and had to be unplugged to turn off. I called the service department and was informed that the unit needed updating. The instructions were on their web site which I followed. The thing still won't work and I can't understand half the conversation with the service department because they don't speak or understand the English language well. I would never have bought the thing if I knew it would be this much trouble! I may be way behind the times, but do they make a fish finder that will just work without updating? Any suggestions will be appreciated!

All the new units that I know of receive updates & those updates usually really help the functions of the unit.....
HB's are by far the best/operator friendly units I've ever dealt with....
The menus are easy to navigate & understandable.....
