Sabine River

I been invited to do white Bass fishing at Sabine River I have never fished there but I'm excited to go...we'll be there Saturday morning God Willing...have any of you ever fished that river?

There are plenty of big white bass there. Sand bars and chartruse are most common things. Knock them dead Gil.

Fished it many years ago when I lived further east in Texas. Had some success but not like I've had here on san jac.
I have seen some great reports coming from there though this year. Better so far than what I've seen in the areas we hit around here.

My Dad lived in Joaquin (near the Sabine River just north of Toledo Bend). We fished the Sabine many times and small crawfish (about 2" was best) was our preferred bait. If we used artificial bait, we mainly used roadrunners (orange head/white body).

Good luck Gil., use to fish with crawfish for trout and steelhead and it seems to be a great bait for most anything. Good thing about crawfish is that you can eat what you don't use. They should make great :taco:

Lol. Killa heard the WB will hit small ( very sm ) crawfish. Guessing it cause there are a bunch on creeks and rivers?? Not as much shad in rivers or creeks?? Change diet once in the river/creek system? Not sure but I know from a good buddy what other folks were using and were reeling WB after WB using baby crawfish. Minnows and artificials were not producing very many.

Ok the fishing was great we fished the Sabine in Flatwood near Joaquin yes with lil crawfish like about 3/4 to 1 inch long we caught 150 white bass 4019240192

4 fishermen the other two were locals that took us to the location it only took us 2 1/2 hrs to catch the 150 it was unbelievable the size of those fish was stunning

Hog WB in cooler and a herd of hogs.

Take a cooler with you for a could of those critters

Great catch, can you imagine cleaning all those fish. You said fish up to 4 lbs, that is as big as they get in Texas.
