Guys, If your going black bass fishing on Conroe..... Jig and run red spinner baits around the tires at Anchorage. Jig with a pumpkin seed jig 3/4 oz. with a pork trailer on the South Side of the 1097 rip rap. If you go to the north end of the lake look for some bedding fish. The fish are bedding on Rayburn already so Conroe should be around the same.
Just remember that the further south you go start looking further from shore for staging fish. 1/2 oz. Red Spinner baits and Red Rattle traps should put a few in the boat. I've caught many a good fish between the bank along the little barrier thing to the little island at Anchorage. Crankbaits work best over there, especially if they are bangin the bottom.
Top-R's are deadly on that lake during the afternoon when the sun gets up.
Top worm colors should be red shad, Watermelon, and Pumpkin Seed. If the water melon and punkin seed are slow dip about an inch of the tail in chartreuse dipndie. Use 1/8 oz sinkers for Texas rigs and don't forget the Carolina rigs, lizards work best.
That should keep you busy for a couple hours.
