The photos below are of the hull for the project (bp Atlantis) I've been working on for the past three years. To put its size in perspective it is approximately 300 feet square. It set sail last week on a two month trek to Corpus Christi, Texas where three process modules will be install on top of it. The shipyard in the backgroud is DSME in Okpo, Korea.

The total weight of the three modules to be installed on the top is roughly 50,000 tons each or 150,000 tons total. When complete the platform will be installed in 7,000 feet of water on the continental shelf in the Gulf of Mexico. Prior to this project I worked on a platform that was installed in 5,000 feet water and at that time it was a record depth. This platform will be a new record depth.

It has 60 megawatts of generation and will be capable of pumping 200,000 barrels of oil per day. This is a personal best for me but not for my company. Just last week another platform left Corpus Christi that was designed to pump 250,000 barrels of oil per day.

Just wanted to share.
