Killa, the weight should be on the blank. You need to match the line weight to the rod. I have an 8 foot 5 weight fly rod I got when I was about 14. I used to just kill the bluegill on some local ponds in Kansas.

Being the cheapie I am, I buy cheap. The line in the picture cost me $7.57 including shipping, from E-bay. It's probably what you consider "weed eater" line. All my rods (7 now) have floating, weight forward line. I didn't spend more than $25.00 for any of them.
There are a lot of good lines available, but I am the wrong person to ask ... if you're talking all the high priced alternatives.

First day of 2016 started warm and foggy. I fished this little area, most of which is about 2 feet deep.

    Caught a couple of these:

And about 12 of these, half of which were this size or larger:

Got off the water after only a couple of hours ... gotta start packing for Chicago.

Well, I figured I'd add this here. It's not Florida, but it is fishing a la me. Last weekend here in Illinois. Going home next Saturday ... YEA !!!
I did do some fishing this weekend. The temps were in the 40's ... which is acceptable for short periods of time. So, over the last two days, I've hit several creeks and rivers with open water. Couldn't find any of the prettier fish like Sunnies and Small Mouth ... but I did manage to hook a few Creek Chubs on a fly.
