    chain pickerel

I received a call today from a buddy of mine. He said what I know about pike in Texas. I said I know we have chain pickerel in Texas. He said one was caught on his pond. This pond is in Porter TX. I told him are you sure it wasn't a grinnel/bowfin?!?? He said no it was not a grinnel/ bowfin. I said you sure?? He said I'll send you pic of it.

Pic is from youngster that caught it. He text it to my buddy when he was at work.

It's for sure a chain pickerel. Didn't think they were this far south in Texas. Very cool to catch.

Chain, Redfin and Grass Pickerel all live in much warmer water than the "pike" side of the family. I catch them once in a while in Florida. Although, it's been many years since I caught one ... maybe they all moved to Texas !

At the back of my fathers property and the pond across the street. In fact our very own Katjim caught one in my dads pond just a few years ago.
