    Salty fun

I met up with a couple buddies for a little salty fishing. Kinda last minute trip. We have been working crazy at work. Mark called said meet me a dock if you want to go. Good buddy George ( BFT) got the same call as did our fellow worker Daniel.

We all met up and off we went.

First thing to do is catch bait. Gil don't faint at this part.

After catching some fresh mullet. We were off to see what we could catch.

Plenty of hardheads and gaftop were hungry. No one wanted their pic taken holding one. Lol.

Daniel hooked up with a big bull red.

We caught plenty of small stuff. A bunch of undersized specs.

Cool part of trip was Mark set out a big rod with a 10 inch mullet on it. We were telling fishing stories and his pole about hit the water. It was in rod holder and tip was about in water. He grabbed it and was holding on for the ride. Big reel was just screening. He tightened up drag but it didn't slow down much. He said no stopping this one. It gonna spool me. As it was about to get spooled the line broke. He reeled it in and the line looked like a shark tail fraid the line.

Cool trip, Vetto. Those blacktip can turn into a fine meal if you get 1 or 2 over the 2' mark. I was surprised at how well they grilled. Is that the pass?

Sounds like y'all had a good time.
Only been fishing in the ocean twice. Both times were on big ole boats with 100 people standing elbow to elbow fishing for snapper. Half the time the deck hands were untangling lines. Those guys were incredible. My buddy hooked a huge hardhead that he wasn't allowed to keep. I hooked a small shark and the line was cut. I had fun but it was just crowded for me. I have a few good stories about the trips we took to Galveston but they are a bit "salty".
I have only been in jail once in my life and it was in Galveston. The Island Cabaret. Lamarque County. Public intoxication. Lucky to be alive. That experience soured my desire to fish in the ocean or visit anything named cabaret. That was 28 years ago.
I'll leave the saltwater stuff to you guys. It does sound fun.
