Unhappy U.S. Army Corps of Misinformation

Yesterday I was prevented from fishing by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers misinformation.

On this web page they say my favorite boat ramps are closed...

    http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/lak...facilities.htm

When I called the Corps to verify the information on that page, they told me those ramps were open.

It costs $30 in fuel to drag my boat to the lake. Maybe you are rich enough to gamble on these clowns. I am not.

Rayburn is 2 feet over its "conservation pool".

Fortunately, at some ramps the locals ignore the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and cut the locks off the gates or move the barricades away from the entrance and use the ramp even if it's officially "closed".

Here is a photo of the Marion's Ferry boat ramp I took yesterday.

    So dangerous!!! (not)

Bureuocrats sit behind desks in air conditioned offices and make rules that make little sense to those of us who actually get out and do the work.
It's knowin' that your door is always open sideways and your path is free to walk......

The U.S. is too big. Bureaucrats should not be making decisions for people 1,000 miles away.

There is probably a policy manual at the Army Corps of Engineers H.Q. in Washington D.C. that says "All boat ramps will be closed at Corps lakes when flood pool exceeds two feet".

Doesn't matter what real-world conditions actually are 1,000 miles away.
