TPWD Has New Web Pages About Free Fishing
Beginning Labor Day weekend, you won't need a fishing license to try your luck casting for bass, catfish, redfish, crappie and other fish at Texas State Parks. On Aug. 29, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department kicks off its Family Fishing Celebration, a yearlong event that gives families just one more reason to visit dozens of scenic and historic state parks from Caddo Lake to the Big Bend. There is a new set of Web pages that have details about the program. From Aug. 29, 2003 to Aug. 31, 2004, TPWD will waive fishing license requirements inside park boundaries at more than 70 state parks, where waters offer ample angling opportunities. The state agency has the authority to grant the license waiver for such events according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Code. The waiver will save visitors fishing in state parks the cost of a fishing license. For more information, visit the new Web pages (http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/familyfish/).
