    Repairing the boat house

I have not been fishing this week because we have been repairing Robert's boat house. While the lake was low, we replaced some rotten pilings. You can see from the pictures that the piling were in need of replacing.

We cut the old pilings off below the normal water level where they were still solid then drove a 18 inch piece of rebar into the center, leaving a few inches sticking up. The new piling was drilled to receive the rebar and set on top of the cut-off. The hardest part of the job was drilling the holes through the new pilings. Those things are hard and you are drilling at or above shoulder height.

Almost done-Dan is trimming of the last shim and Dan And Harold acknowledging a good good is completed. Robert's boat house will stand a few more years. Best of all, we had a good time and nobody got hurt!
