    Hello everybody,

I just stumbled upon this great fishing site while trying to do some research on how to catch some HUGE catfish. I live in Kingwood and on a small lake and catch some decent sized cats most of the time I try. But Kingwood Lakes is small therefore the cats can't get too large. I want to land a BIG cat somewhere close to the Lake Houston area but I don't have a boat. I don't mind fishing from the shore but I can't seem to locate a great spot to land that 20+ pounder. I would rather catch one on a pole but a trot-line or jug would suffice. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can catch big cats on the smallest of baits, but typically the little fish will get it before them. If you want to fish for large catfish. You will spend a little more time between bites. I would recommend that if you locate a place with plenty of fish. Fish a couple of poles with live perch. I would recomend a rig with a 5/0-7/0 hook.
Work is a way to support a fishing habit and for those who do not know how to fish.

For some reason I am stuck on treble hooks for cats. I would like to see a poll as to what the majority of catfisherman/woman use for hooks: treble or single? I have had great success on trebles and I know singles work just as well, I just like the extra hooks. Thanks for your input Reedlv.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
