    One for those plant workers

If you're a plant worker on in industrial construction you'll get a kick out of this.

Not sure where this happened but a crew installing steam trace was told to steam trace a pump and this is what they did. Not sure if it for process or freeze protection but that motor won't get cold.

Oh no! I'm seeing work on FishingTx! Looks like a sump pump of some sort. Whoever steam traced it did a great job.

I feel fairly certain the wire is stainless.

Hopefully, that is not a galvanized wire holding it together. I made a solar panel once, copper on galvanized tin. Only took about three weeks to electrolyze pin holes in the copper.

TD, That's temporary wiring holding it in place until it gets soldered. You can see where the tubing is butted together at the top and bottom.

my guess is that the craft that was sent to steam trace the "pump" (insulator or steam fitter) probably did not know where the pump stopped and the motor started.

Not sure what they are pumping but we used to have a lot of steam tracing on the quench oil systems at Chevron. From a millwright's point of view....those things are just obstacles (and usually gets cut out of the way) when you need to fix/repair the pump.......LOL

they did a good job though....look at how straight the tubes are and the bends are uniform.......i would guess they will get the chance to "re-do" it........LOL
