Anybody have any experience with the handheld/portable depthfinder?
I bought one at over the weekend as a gift. It looks like a trolling motor. I think it would work well on a canoe or kayak.

Bought it for my dad. Don't really need it, he has a df on his pontoon. He likes to ride over his crappie brush tops on lake fork and see if anything is on them. Just another gadget to play with.

You should get him an under water camera for his birthday so he can really tell what's down there

Ok here is the deal on this camera . If you place it in the fish tank at bass pro , it is awesome ! If you put it off the dock on the west fork , you can see about six inches visability !

Those underwater cameras are less than most depth finders! I wasn't trying to throw you under the bus

Thanks Jeff. I am wanting to see if I can see underwater when we fish for the Reds. As many as we caught I'm sure they swam passed boat. I was thinking it be cool to see them

Your welcome to try it and see. I was watching the discovery channel last night "River Monsters" . They were using these little cameras while they were trolling for those big catfish . Houston Dominant had used one on conroe last summer and he was able to identify the structure that he was fishing under.

BPS is pretty good about returns. Tell them the truth and at the very least they should give you store credit. A bone worth of credit will buy a lot of catfishing supplies.
