I have had the best luck on cut whiting or big chunks of ray when fishing for sharks from the beach. Hard to keep the reds off the mullet.

Try and cast net your mullet or buy fresh mullet if you can find them. I have caught a ton of big reds fishing off the beach in high island. There is a bait store on the left before you get to the beach if you go through winnie. He always has big fresh mullet and usally some rays. Around Easter is when I start fishing for sharks from the beach.

Winnie-George's bait shop
High Island-Old man Ben's on the left
Galveston Island
Uncle Bucks-off the I45 feeder
Smitty's
Good luck...Sandbar sharks should start showing up. They normally show up down south first.
High Island report-we have been productive on bullreds...cut mullet/fresh crab...
