i recently lost a 5ft radius cast net to a large rock... so then i bought a 3.5ft radius cast net and changed the mono closing lines to 283lb test nylon catfish jugline... so that way if i snagged a rock i could at least get my net back.... but now everytime i throw it the weights and weight line tie up around the cast net line spreader. Does anyone know of a way to throw the small cast net without it tangling up everytime? because it takes me about a min to undo it every time and when it tangles it doesnt close properly and doesnt catch any fish.

I have no idea . Jackie Kennedy uses the cast net the most so I am sure he has a few ideas . I know he goes through a bunch of nets each year .

On throwing the net ... There are lots of YouTube videos that are great to watch. I haven't looked to see but there may be some on even repairing them .

On a 3.5ft net, u could pretty well hold the net open and use a wide swinging motion to throw it. ask jackie, he uses a net darn near everyday

Jackie throws a 7 footer effortlessly. I agree I think a 3.5 footer would most easily be thrown open.

I personally don't like to throw any thing smaller than a five footer and the deeper the water the bigger and heavier the net needs to be. I use mainly 6 and 7 footers around here but I have some 10 fters that I use off shore.
