The Lake Houston Sports and Recreation Foundation is sponsoring the upcoming fishing tournament March 24th, as noted here earlier. The Foundation was formed with the goals of:
Marking the channels in the shallow areas of the lake which will make boating much safer for those not familiar with our lake.
Starting an annual fish stocking program that includes improving the habitat for the fish by planting vegetation recommended by Texas Parks and Wildlife. We have already met and formed a partnership with the parks department and are in the process of getting the permit for the stocking program. We will be stocking the lake with Florida Hybrid bass and according to the parks department stocking technician, these bass will breed with our existing bass which will result in a higher grade of offspring.
There will be a social and fundraising event to discuss the efforts to restock the Lake and improve this natural resource. All donations are tax deductable and 100% of the proceeds will go to improve Lake Houston.
The event will be Friday, March 8th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm for hors d’oeuvers and cocktails. Around 6:00, Keynotespeaker Mark Webb with the Texas Parks and Wildlife department will be there to explain the stocking program and habitat improvement. The Mixer/Fundraiser will be held at the address below.
