OK from the start of our Sabine Pass trip. Doug Hughes and I headed down to Sabine Pass to celebrate his birthday. It was originally planned to be a Monday till Friday ordeal. Had hope to meet Gator for one day of fishing, that was not possible for health reasons. At any rate Doug and I fished for 3 hours the first day, and put in a morning&evening trip the second day. On the third day Doug's wife Lisa and her friend Tina flew in and fished. The two gals kept Doug and I very busy, we also had a large stingray, three line or leader breaks, and was spooled once on a 6500 with heavy braid line. I consider this a very good to excellent salt water trip and only wish all of mine could be like this. Baits consisted of sand trout, crabs, some shrimp, and mullet or whatever we could beg borrow or steal. Weather wise a very calm day on the jetties. On Thursday morning bad weather blew in and we cut the trip short and headed North. Hope to return soon.

Doug and i had 4 rods each and his was spooled with 40# braid. I have 80# on mine but this fish would have spooled mine as well. the drag was all the way down. The fish just took off and never slowed down. I don't know what it could have been I've only been spooled or seen it a few times. Hope to go back soon. Love me some bulls.
I edited the post to reflect all three days of fishing. This was as good as a freshwater Northerner can do down in the salt. I love it and will keep going down and trying until I figure it out. If you have not fished the jetties during the "Bull Red Run" and would like to catch some serious string stretchers I highly recommend it. All reds caught and released. Fish of lessor quality sacrificed and recycled as red enticement.
