I live in San Marcos and fish Calaveras,Canyon Lake and San Marcos River. Once a year I get to go over to Fayetta County. I found a lake that is on the San Marcos River call Woods Lake. We like to take the RV and try to stay two or three days down there. I am getting my grandkids hook on fishing and shooting. Looking to retire in about 3 to 4 years.

Welcome lawnman. I lived in Kyle until 2001 and fished Canyon a lot. Crappie fishing at night is really good in the river above Cranes Mill from now till mid-May. Used to go almost every Friday night during that period. Go after work and fish all night.

Last I heard, Canyon was very low. did it ever get any water?

I also know some good places for catfish that are protected from the wind and close to a ramp. Send me a PM with you want more info.
