Refininshed one of my gun stocks - before & after

Told my self after deer season I was going to completely
sand down and refinish the stock on my Remington model 722 257 Roberts.
It was so bad there was nothing to protect it from weather or scratches, and
it had plenty of scratches. Its around 65 years old.Attachment 37721Attachment 37722

That is very nice and lots of fine work.
I refinished a shotgun when I was in high school. Used a Herter's Gun Slick kit. I sanded, whiskered, scraped with glass, put on several coats of finish of some kind, and rubbed with three different grades of grit. I probably worked a month or more on it. A 12 gauge Remington on a Browning patten. Thing weighed a ton and kicked like a mule, then had all the metal chromed. Later traded it for a 410 pump.
